Exeter Green Party’s Diana Moore has joined forces with the two Lib Dem and one Independent councillors,to act as a formal ‘Group’ within the Council. Known as the Progressive Group, the councillors collectively gain some powers and access, notably to sit on committees, that they wouldn’t have as individual councillors. The Group is working well.
Diana explains : “Each member of the group agrees that when they issue material to the media connected to their Council activities, they will also inform other members of the group.
Critically, the Group will only collaborate on issues where priorities are aligned. Another key aspect of the group is to help the four councillors, all of whom represent city centre wards, to collaborate on city centre issues”.
